How To Nail the Sparkler Sendoff As the day comes to a close, the sun begins its descent, casting a warm glow over everything. It’s an ideal moment to round up your guests for that unforgettable photo during your sparkler send-off. I’ve witnessed this magical moment unfold countless times as a venue owner with over 13 years of experience, with many turning out beautifully, though not every attempt hits the mark. To help you capture that stunning shot you’ve been dreaming of, here are a few straightforward tips to ensure your sparkler send-off goes off without a hitch. 1. Buy the Long Sparklers: Yes, I know they cost a little bit more, but you NEED the long sparklers. Typically, a photographer will have you run through the sendoff 2-3 times to get the perfect shot so it’s important that sparklers stay lit. Also, about ½ of your guests will have left by this time so only order sparklers for about 50% of your guest list. 2. Do Your ‘Send Off’ Early: So, you don’t have to leave your wedding after the sendoff. It’s your wedding and hey, you want to go back in and get your dance on. We don’t blame you. Say your wedding ends at 11pm, do your sparkler sendoff around 9 or 9:30. This way you have more guests to hold the sparklers, and your guests will be more sober and less likely to hurt themselves on the pyrotechnics. 3. Have A Way to Light the Sparklers: It’s important to get the sparklers lit as quickly together as possible. So, either have many lighters or if your venue allows it, tiki torches or large candles so everyone can get their sparklers lit around the same time. 4. Hire a Good Photographer: You will hear me preach this over and over again in my blogs about spending some good money on a photographer. Not all photographers have the same skill sets so it’s important to find a professional who will give you what you need. Ask to see your photographer’s sparkler sendoff pictures. Are they well lit? Are they smoky from the sparklers? Do they have several sendoff pictures or just one? Remember, this moment from your wedding can never be recreated once it’s gone so make sure you do it right the first time. Our team here at Cherry Barc Farm would love nothing more than to conduct your sparkler send off! Now enjoy one of my favorite sparkler sendoff pictures amazing photographer Katie Lee Photography.
