Top 5 Summer Wedding Flowers for your Lansing, MI. Wedding Venue

Summer in Michigan is one of the best times of year to tie the knot- especially if you are having an outdoor wedding.  Bride's often will opt for vibrant florals for their wedding arbor, bouquet and centerpieces.  We've been offering floral design for over 5 years here at Cherry Barc Farm and have worked with dozens of brides to bring their vision to life. These are our top 5 flowers we like to use for our summer brides.

1. Lavender is an amazing flower to incorporate into your bouquet.  It comes in several shades of purple which are the most common and blooming in July.  Not only does it signify remembrance, but it smells amazing.  We grow dozens of lavender plants here at the farm and are adding 200 more this spring.

2. Zinnias come in a variety of colors.  They are a hardy summer flower, so they are a great choice for bouquets and arbor decor.  Zinnias commemorate endurance and last love.  Who doesn't want that on their wedding day?!

3. Peonies are in my top 3 favorite flowers.  They are beautiful in full bloom and in bud.  While they come in a variety of colors, most of our couples opt for the classic and gorgeous pink.  They bloom in early summer and for a short period of time which is maybe why their beauty is all the more special.

4. Viola flowers are not something we would recommend for your centerpieces, but they certainly provide a wow moment on your wedding cake! Violas come in a variety of colors and can either be fresh or dried.  They are easy to grow or purchase online and YES, they are edible.  We love a custom cake topper, but these flowers set summer cakes over the top in beauty.

5. Dried flowers are one of the underrated flowers for weddings.  Dried Pompas grasses, dried lavender, and bunny tails are some of our favorites to sneakily incorporate into our couple's floral.  They add a touch of nature, blow whimsically in the wind, and a texture that you just can't get with fresh flowers.

We always recommend to our couples to dig into their Pinterest board to provide a road map to their florist as to the look they want. Choose flowers that are important to you, but let your florist also guide you as to flowers that would fit best within your budget and that are also in season.  Interested?
