How to Create a Signature Cocktail for your Wedding in Grand Rapids, MI.

Wedding guests have grown to love (and expect) bride and groom signature cocktails at weddings.  While bar questions are the #1 question we get here at Cherry Barc Farm, we don't want you to stress about what to choose.  Signature cocktails are a fun way to add a tasty drink to your cocktail hour or reception and keeping your bar budget intact.  Over the past 13 years of hosting wedding, we've come up with some tips and tricks to make delicious signature cocktails for your summer wedding.

Pick What You Like

This maybe an obvious suggestion, but we've seen too many couples leaving on their wedding night asking, 'what am I going to do with all of this extra booze? I don't even drink (fill in the blank)'.
Mixing your favorite spirits to create signature cocktails can be a fun way
Venture down the Pinterest rabbit hole if you are looking for something with a twist but know that there is nothing wrong with drinks you enjoy like a vodka soda or whisky sour.

Consider What's in Season

Consider the time of year you are getting married.  Summer months provide fresh fruit that can be used as garnishments while a winter wedding might call for hot spiced cider.  One of my favorite summer beverages is a fresh lemonade with vodka and a strawberry puree topper.  Your guests will love these on a hot outdoor summer day.  Fresh mint is an easy to come by garnish as well that would be delightful with a mint julip.

KISS- Keep it Simple Stupid

Not sure if this is still a saying that gets used or if I'm aging myself, but K.I.S.S. (Keep it Simple Stupid) is a phrase I was raised with.  I say it all the time to our couples when they are planning their bar.  Don't over think it.  High end ingredients mixed with some fresh elements goes a long way.  Spring for the good lemonade verses the powder- trust us, your guests will notice.  Some of the beverages I've seen fly out from behind the bar is a simple (but good) margarita.  A little salt on the rim- Yumm!  It's the little details that go a long way.
