How to Add Personal Touches to Your Wedding Theme in Michigan

We've all gone down the Pinterest rabbit hole of wedding planning.  An endless scrolling screen to put together your dream wedding and hoping that our wedding pictures will be worthy of some future bride repining them.  That's all a great place to start but as a wedding planner and venue owner, there is nothing better than having couples lean into personal touches on their wedding day.  It's the personal touches that take a good wedding to a great and memorable wedding- especially for someone like me who gets to witness over 4 dozen weddings a summer.

Personalize

You and your fiancé both have individual taste and hobbies that you can blend into your wedding.  I've seen couples decorate with deer sheds because the groom LOVES hunting.  Another one of my favorites is a bride who did gorgeous water coloring and hand painted flowers on the guest seating chart cards.  Such a beautiful detail that will be remembered by guests, photographers, and of course us, the wedding venue.

Heirloom

You each have a set of parents and hopefully a couple sets of grandparents.  Ask them if they saved any special items from their wedding. One wedding that stands out is a bride who used her grandparents cake cutting set.  It was a small detail, but 8 years later I still remember it from their wedding.  It's likely that you can reuse a cake stand, cutting set, or borrow a veil or watch.  I personally kept my wedding shoes in hopes that maybe one of my daughters would want to wear them- it could be their something borrowed and something blue.
