How to Blend Luxury Details into Affordable Decor for your Lansing, MI. Wedding

As a wedding venue owner and planner for over 13 years, I've worked with all types of brides who have a variety of budgets for their weddings.  One question I get asked a lot it how to make the wedding feel more luxurious without breaking the bank.  As a bride, you want to make sure no detail is overlooked and that your photographs are STUNNING!  My suggestion to elevate your wedding is always to add in little droplets of affordable glamour to make the whole venue feel more posh. 

Give them the Old Razzle Dazzle

No matter what your color pallet is for your wedding, you can add in one metallic element to accentuate your colors.  You can choose from rose gold, copper, yellow gold, or silver.  Go big with a full glitz table runner or keep it more subtle with some mercury votive candle on guest tables and sprinkled around your venue.  Either way, this simple (and affordable) detail will take your barn wedding from rustic to stately.

Add Draping-EVERYWHERE.

This is definitely one of my favorite things our couples add to their decor rentals is our custom draping.  Adding a classic chiffon draping to the four pillars of our dance floor breaks up the rustic wood and add so much elegance for first dance photos.  Chiffon draping can also be added to your ceremony arbor and behind your head table.  Couple the white draping with little twinkle lights is 'chef's kiss!'
This is something we offer here at Cherry Barc Farm, but draping can usually be added to most venues.  As a past groom told us when he rented the dance floor draping, "I can't unsee it.  We have to have it for our wedding."

Details, Details, Details

Couples spend a lot of time discussing what they want to eat for dessert, but sometimes WHAT the dessert gets served on can be overlooked.  Rather than putting your hand pies on a standard plate, pick up a platter at the dollar store.  Same thing for your cake.  Marketplace or party stores will have several options for putting your wedding cake on a platform giving it a more thoughtful look.  

This couple did an amazing job with their dessert table details. They even have a special container for the forks to be placed in.

Guest Favors

Often times, couples will plan their whole wedding budget- pick their caterer, dream flowers, and dress, but will run out of money (and planning energy) when it comes to the guest favors.  Favors do NOT need to be overly fancy or expensive, guests just want something thoughtful.  Seth and Grace choose these high-end suckers in their wedding colors with a custom sticker on it. Again, take note as to the simple and cute containers they have them in.  These suckers would not look nearly as beautiful just thrown in a basket or laid out at place settings.
