I still remember my own wedding back in 2009 when we cut into our stunning 4-tiered paper birch cake, only to realize there was no plate to put the slice on! I awkwardly scanned the room, and in a moment, that’s forever captured on video, I ended up just placing it on the table and cutting it in half. While it didn’t ruin the day, it did inspire me to compile a list of commonly forgotten items that can make a big difference on your special day. 1. Dessert Plates & Forks First off, don’t forget dessert plates and forks! Even if you’re going all out with a donut wall, your guests will appreciate having something to eat off of instead of their hands. 2. Cake Knife Next, a cake knife is essential; I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had couples borrow one from me at the venue. 3. Wine Bottle Opener And let’s not overlook the wine bottle opener—your venue might have one, but it’s always smart to have a backup. My mom and I learned this the hard way during family camping trips, so now we always keep one in the car. 4. Food! Lastly, make sure to plan for food! Even if you’ve splurged on a caterer, your wedding party will need some fuel while getting ready. A few pizzas can go a long way in keeping everyone happy and energized. Ok, the next 3 are EXTREMELY important. If you forget, there’s little to nothing your venue owner or coordinator can do for you so PLEASE don’t forget… 5. Wedding bands Now, here’s the big one: wedding bands! Make sure they’re handed over to the best man ahead of time; forgetting them can lead to a major hiccup on the big day. 6. Wedding dress & vale Keep your dress hanging and get it to the place you are dressing at as early as possible. Make sure all your other items are in your garment bag like your vale, jewelry, shoes, perfume, etc. This will leave time for some last-minute steaming if need be. 7. Marriage License Give your marriage license to your pastor/officiant at your rehearsal. The officiant should hang onto the license or give it to your wedding coordinator for safe keeping. Again, it’ll be one less thing for you to remember. They’ll keep it safe with your vows until it’s time to sign I really hope these handy tips and tricks make your wedding day run as smoothly as it can. And if you encounter a few bumps in the road, don’t sweat it! Remember, it’s still your special day, and it’s going to be amazing no matter what! Thank you for stopping by our blog!
